About Coach Hamme

Coach Hamme believes there is no better classroom that prepares people for life than the football field. It’s a game that fosters leadership by challenging a group of individuals’ to overcome adversity for a common purpose. He brings with him 17 years of coaching experience, plus a Masters Degree in Sports Management from Columbia University. 

He began his coaching career at the University at Albany from 2001 to 2004 where he helped the team win the Northeast Conference Championship in 2002 to 2003 as well as become the Eastern College Athletic Conference Bowl Game Champions in 2002. He then went to the United States Merchant Marine Academy from 2006-2007 coached at Columbia University from 2007-2012.

After Columbia, Coach Hamme worked at ASA College from September 2012 to June 2013 and again from September 2014 to June 2015. At ASA, his team was ranked #5 nationally in the NJCAA in 2012 Northeast Football Conference Champions, and coached during the 2012 Carrier Dome Bowl Game. They were also ranked #17th Nationally in NJCAA in 2014 Northeast Conference Final. In between his coaching at ASA, Hamme coached at St. Mary’s Hall in San Antonio, TX. Since 2015, he’s coached at Monroe College. The team was ranked 3rd in Fewest Points Allowed Per Game and 4th in Fewest Yards Allowed Per Game for the 2016 NJCAA season. Lastly, since 2016 Coach Hamme has worked with the Orebro Black Knights in Orebro, Sweden. His work helped coach the team to the National Championship Finals in 2016 and earn the Fewest Points and Yards Allowed Per Game Sweden during the National Semi Finals.

His players have won awards for the Northeast Football Conference, SAFF (Swedish Super Series), The Ivy League, Liberty League, and the Northeast Conference. He also has coached two players who have made NFL Rosters: Josh Martin, a linebacker for the New York Jets and Kurt Campbell, and linebacker for the Green Bay Packers.

Coach Hamme is passionate about football because he believes one of the greatest benefits of the sport is learning how to deal with adversity and how to recover from it in a positive way. He’s inspired by how a player will build character throughout the training and playing process. Coach Hamme currently resides on the Upper East Side.
